the right artist at the right time
I returned my new iPhone 17 Pro. There were so many glitches and things going wrong with it. I'm currently using K's old iPhone 14 Plus. The camera doesn't work, so I need to find out if they can fix it and how much it will cost. I don't need the newest phone tbh. Tired of spending a small fortune every two years on a phone.
I got a new Tarot deck last week. I wish I could show you pictures of how gorgeoussss it is. It's the Queer Tarot by Ash and Chess.
This deck feels so inclusive and just stunning, with its Riso-colored art. It's bright and cheerful. I wish they used a feminine energy for the hierophant (male-dominant organized religion is deeply triggering for me), but other than that, this deck is perfect. I love how they swapped traditional gender roles for a lot of the court cards.

This past week, there's been an inkling of wanting to make zines again. I started drawing backgrounds with black ink on legal-sized paper and writing tiny musings about the past month in my journal.
Then, yesterday, when I checked my mailbox, I found the most beautiful envelope. Inside? Zines! And the most perfect, tender, genuine zines I've read in a very long time. They wrote me the most heartfelt letter, detailing their thoughts/feelings about the zines I sent them, written on a gorgeous Halloween card. Their letter and zines have completely bolstered and reignited my desire to make zines again.
In the card, they wrote: these zines came into my life perfectly--the right artist at the right time. I feel the exact same way, truly. Thank you so so much, Max. I adore everything you sent, including the original ghost drawing you made, that now sits on my seasonal altar 👻🕯️Also, I love your Halloween-themed website!!
