curating my corner of the internet + morning sketches

Bearblog's trending page gives me the ick. It's giving social media. Why does there need to be a trending page? Or likes? Why can't we have a running list of blog posts that we serendipitously find and enjoy? I'd rather find blogs slowly by chance than be nudged towards what's popular. Also why does publicly replying to people's posts on Bearblog feel a lot like a hot comments section? The intent feels the same to me: visibility and affirmation. Idk, maybe I'm just exhausted by the noise as I simultaneously add to the noise. Maybe I'm just overwhelmed by the state of things that any sort of confrontation online feels bigger than it is. You're prob thinking well if you don't like it, don't read it. And it's true, I guess what matters is that I can curate my own experience. I can take a pause with the discovery/trending section, mute blogs, or unfollow via RSS.

Anyway.

Spending time in my sketchbook this morning over coffee before getting ready to head to the record store with K.
